How Weak Can We Be?
There is a fine line between being lenient
and down and out ignoring the situation. There is a war going on in America and it starts at our borders and creeps its way
in. Illegal immigrants and drug smuggling are some of the biggest controlable problems we face today. Mexico's literal war
with the drug cartels is causing a massive problem for Americans living in bordertowns. Durring the week of November 1st alone
6 Americans were killed in the bordertown of Juarez by stray bullets from drug gang's shootings and drive-bys. This war is
costing Mexico dearly and its flooding over to us. The arms and ammunition used by these groups are mostly purchased or otherwise
obtained from American sources and the number one purchaser for these cartels' narcotics is Americans. We are funding and
supplying the enemy opperation. The smuggling of both drugs and humans into the states is also one of the main sources of
problems within the borders themselves. There is a 25-year-old illegal immigrant woman in Florida with eight kids (thats what
keeps her here in the states) and each child earns her $1,500 per month from the government plus medical and food stamps,
yet she has not and still does not pay taxes or work any job. She is illegal. Yet she can drain our system and we have to
pay for it and most Americans are not entitled to these benefits let alone on this large of a scale and she isnt the only
one. Our nation provides a montly allowance and food stamp denefits totaling $2,470 per month to any person coming
in and raising their right hand and swearing to be a refugee, thats over $30,000 a year, more than being paid $15 an hour,
and it all come out of our pockets. And lets not forget the drug issue running rampant in our nation. The drug problem
is at an all time high and between the drugs and the illegal immigrants taking our jobs and federal assistance we are watching
business close and the homeless/jobless rates spike. Not all of it is from these two sources that is not at all what I am
saying, however a large amount of it is. Our government is slowly realizing this and starting to do something, adding in a
fence and increasing border patrol units, but everytime it goes to step up it cowers down all over again. Mexico keeps scrutinizing
the U.S. for its use of force against the smugglers and immigrants, causing the U.S. to tip-toe around appologizing for taking
action against violent criminals causing such mayhem across the nation. Our border patrol agents have been put on standing
orders to use non-lethal force for all encounters unless fired upon. December 15th, 2010, a border patrol agent Brian Terry was shot by bandits with AK-47s, while he was armed only with a beanbag gun and a side arm. Due to their tactical training,
Terry and two other agents were able to arrest four of the five bandits, but with nothing more than beanbag guns, it came
at a large price. Although they had heavy armor, Terry was hit in an artery and passed away before he could reach a hospitol.
The Arizona state reps are calling for more national gaurd troops to be stationed along the border, while another is calling
for one of the most high valume smuggling routes to be declaired a national reserve which would bar border patrol from
within 50 miles of the area. All this begs the question, do we fight or do we stand? Will we continue to roll over, or will
we say "Enough is enough, this is America and this is how it is here,"?
